A KNIFE-WIELDING robber has been warned he faces jail after he was foiled by a shopkeeper during a raid.
Christopher Huxham, 22, was remanded in custody at Oxford Crown Court today, after admitting an attempted robbery.
Huxham brandished a knife and tried to rob A & Y Grocers, in Broad Street, Banbury, on June 29.
But he was disarmed and forced out the door by shopkeeper Mohammed Hussein.
Dc Mike West, of Banbury CID, said: “I would like to commend the shopkeeper involved in this incident for displaying such bravery in the face of a serious threat to his well-being.
“He managed to disarm Huxham, and in doing so removed his hooded top.
“These actions meant we were able to secure the forensic evidence which we needed to bring this prosecution.
“While his actions were incredibly brave, this is not something that I would encourage people to do.”
Judge Anthony King remanded Huxham, of Jubilee Court, Banbury, in custody.
He told him: “This incident passes the custody threshold.”
Huxham will be sentenced on November 20.
