CHILDREN from Wantage Primary School experienced all the attractions of the Indian sub-continent – without leaving the classroom.
Year Three pupils took part in a series of activities relating to India as part of a geography topic called Passport to the World.
They watched a programme about Mumbai, looked at the country’s geography on Google Earth and learned about how it compared in population and size to the UK.
Then the youngsters dressed up in Indian costumes and tasted different curries, supplied by Sylheti Spice, before learning about the Hindu festival of Divali.
Teacher Fiona Tankard said: “I was delighted by how willing the children were to try the food.
“We had lots of clean plates and smiling faces afterwards.”
Headteacher Phil Hibbs said: “Experiences like this help to bring a topic alive for the children.”
