Chile is not just about great value for money wines. For some years now the country has been producing top-quality wines from their superb microclimates. The growing conditions here are sublime and the cool air from the Andes and the Humboldt Current out to sea make for perfect day and night temperatures for the vines. No wonder the wines taste so good!
The Chile's finest case costs £91 and ncludes three bottles each of the following four wines.
Estampa Viognier Chardonnay 2008, Colchagua Valley: This blend works well with the viognier providing notes of ripe apricots and exotic fruit whilst the chardonnay gives citrus and green apple flavours — delicious wine.
Adobe Reserva Gewürtztraminer 2008, Cachapoal Valley: Produced from organically grown grapes, this wine has flavours of lychees and rose petal and makes a perfect aperitif wine or one to have with Thai food.
Montes Classic Series Merlot 2008, Colchagua Valley: Made by the founding father of Chilean quality wine, Aurelio Montes, this is a beautifully structured wine with complex plum and cedar flavours combined with a long finish.
In Situ Winemaker’s Syrah 2007, Aconcagua Valley: Made in the cool climate of the Aconcagua valley, this complex wine has flavours of roasted meat, leather and spice combined with creamy cassis — delicious!
