The family of an Oxfordshire mother Vikki Thompson murdered in an Oxfordshire village 14 years ago today called for justice after a man was held in custody on suspicion of murder.
In a statement issued through Thames Valley Police, Jonathon Thompson, Vikki’s husband and Margaret Simpson, Vikki’s mother, said: "Fourteen years ago Vikki was brutally attacked whilst out walking her dog along a country lane. She never recovered consciousness and died six days later.
"Vikki was only 30 years old. She was a loving wife and mother to Matthew and Jennifer. She was much loved by all her family and friends and is desperately missed.
"Time has passed by now, but still we never forget the loss we suffered, when Vikki was taken away from us.
"We are aware of the arrest this morning by Thames Valley Police Major Crime Review Team and support their work in trying to find who killed Vikki.
"Vikki herself deserves the justice that has not yet been found."
