A man died last night after he was hit by a car while lying in the middle of the A44, in Yarnton near Woodstock.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the collision, which happened at about 8.15pm.
A white Ford Fiesta collided with the man who was lying in the middle of the road, near the Turnpike pub.
The 58-year-old man was declared dead at the scene.
Sgt Pete Jell, of Bicester Roads Policing, who is leading the investigation into the collision, said: “We are still trying to establish the chain of events that has led to this man ending up in the middle of the road.
“It might be that he had been hit by another vehicle prior to this collision, but at the moment we are investigating all possibilities.
“I would like to hear from anyone that may have been in the area around 8pm and may have seen this man walking along the road.”
