Crowmarsh's superior finishing and tremendous defending ensured that a potentially tricky draw was comfortably overcome. Despite this it was a sad day in part as we said farewell to a great member of the Team, Dillon Cowling.
For the first 5 minutes Quarry gave a good account of themselves edging the midfield contest. However a route 1 ball caught the quarry keeper off guard and ace poacher Jacko did what he does best to put Crowmarsh 1 up. A second similar goal followed soon after from Jacko and a great individual goal from Henry Helas meant that suddenly Crowmarsh were comfortably out of reach. Like last week the desire to attack meant that the defence pushed too far forward leaving too much space at the back and Quarry took advantage by pulling a goal back. After this Quarry came forward and edged the midfield battle but couldn't break down the well marshaled Crowmarsh defence. In fact our 2 towering central defenders, Jordi and David, combined from a free kick to score the next goal. The second half was more balanced but Quarry again lacked a cutting edge in the final third and the result was never in doubt. Dillon Cowling came on to play his last minutes with Crowmarsh A. Over many seasons Dillon has been an important part of our squad. Equally comfortable as striker, midfielder, or defender he has always given 100% for the club. He will be remembered for his willingness to chip in and play for the team, his all-round skills and his Lion Heart! I'm sure I speak for all when I say thank you to Dillon for his Contribution to Crowmarsh A.
