A round-up of recent cases heard at the county's magistrates' courts:
BANBURY
Wesley Avery, 18, of Kimberley Villas, Britannia Road, Banbury, admitted criminal damage to the bonnet and roof panels of a car in Banbury on September 27. Given 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs.
Brett Emsden, 35 of Laburnum Crescent, Kidlington, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis as the driver of a vehicle in Banbury on September 20. Fined £150, ordered to pay costs of £85 and victims’ surcharge of £15 and disqualified from driving for 16 months. Also admitted committing an offence while under a conditional discharge. No action taken on breach.
Mark Pentony, 39, of Banbury Road, Oxford, admitted drink-driving in Weston-on-the-Green on September 20. Fined £200, ordered to pay victims’ surcharge of £15 and £85 costs, disqualified from driving for 15 months.
George Geoghegan, 22, of Sinclair Avenue, Banbury, admitted stealing food and alcohol worth £21.99 from Banbury Co-op on July 16. Fined £100 and ordered to pay £21.99 compensation, £15 costs and £85 victims’ surcharge. Also admitted failing to surrender to police at Banbury on September 26 and was fined £100.
Carl Daniels, 24, of Ayres Drive, Bloxham, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis as the driver of a vehicle on September 19. Fined £240, ordered to pay £85 costs and £15 victims’ surcharge. Disqualified from driving for three years.
Mark Dickerson, 27, of Scott Road, Oxford, admitted stealing eight 1.5-litre bottles of vodka and two 1.5-litre bottles of whiskey worth £176.96 from Yates’s public house, Bicester, on May 23. Ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work in the next 12 months and to pay £283 compensation. Also admitted interfering with a motor vehicle. Ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work in the next 12 months and to pay compensation of £190.
Julie Farley, 36, of Dover Avenue, Banbury, admitted drink-driving in Banbury on September 19. Fined £150, ordered to pay victims’ surcharge of £15 and costs of £50 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
Ashley Phelp, 19, of Easington Road, Banbury, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a community order. Resentenced for original assault. Community order made including a 12-week curfew and electronic monitoring.
Benjamin Church, 20, of Hill Crescent, Finstock, admitted possessing cocaine on September 6 at Woodstock. Fined £70, ordered to pay £40 costs and £15 victims’ surcharge.
l Neil Gowing, 42, of Lord Grandison Way, Banbury, admitted drink-driving in Banbury on September 26. He was given a community order and ordered to carry out 110 hours unpaid work. He was also disqualified from driving for 24 months and ordered to pay £70 costs.
Graham Cochrane, 48, of Corncrake Way, Bicester, used a handheld mobile phone while driving in Bicester on April 24. Fined £60, ordered to pay victims’ surcharge of £15. Given three penalty points on his licence.
James Bonham,18, of The Fairway, Banbury, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Banbury on September 26. Fined £50, ordered to pay £30 costs and £15 victims’ surcharge. Also admitted committing offence while subject to a conditional discharge. No action taken on breach.
Elizabeth Rooney, 41, of Station Approach, Banbury, admitted stealing a grey hooded top and shirt worth £46.98 from Banbury TK Maxx. Given 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £30 costs.
Robin Smith, 23, of Bridge Street, Banbury, admitted causing criminal damage to double-glazed windows in Woodstock on August 29. No separate penalty. Admitted assisting in the retention or removal of stolen goods in Banbury between April 11 and April 14. Ordered to carry out unpaid work for 50 hours within 12 months.
William McKenna, 21, of Withycombe Drive, Banbury, admitted assaulting Stephen Munt at Banbury on August 11. Fined £500, ordered to pay £100 compensation, £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Also admitted using threatening words or behaviour on August 11 at Banbury. No separate penalty.
David Jeacock, 57, of Hardwick Park, Banbury, admitted assaulting Stuart Jackson in Banbury on September 7. A community order was made to carry out 60 hours unpaid work in 12 months.
Thomas Findlay, 22, of Southfield Road, Oxford, admitted failing to have a valid vehicle licence. Fined £50, ordered to pay £185 back duty and costs of £20.
Myles Oxlade, 23, of Delapre Drive, Banbury, admitted failing to comply with a community order. Unpaid work increased by 20 hours, ordered to pay £50 costs.
WITNEY
Kirsty Collins, 19, from Eastfield Road, Witney, admitted drink-driving in Witney on September 19. A community order was made and she was ordered to carry out 80 hours unpaid work within 12 months, pay costs of £85 and was disqualified from driving for 24 months.
Christopher Hughes, 32, of Fieldmere Close, Witney, admitted driving while disqualified in Witney on June 13. A community order made to carry out unpaid work for 180 hours within 12 months and he was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He also admitted driving without insurance. Fined £100, ordered to pay £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
Lee Windebank, 19, of Kynaston Road, Didcot, admitted possession of cannabis in Witney on July 10. Fined £50, ordered to pay victims’ surcharge of £15 and costs of £340.
