PEOPLE are being urged to get their dancing shoes on to support a Bicester playgroup.
Dancers of all abilities and ages are being urged to sign up for a Dance-athon to help Rainbow Playgroup’s £200,000 new building appeal.
Glory Farm School, in Sunderland Drive, will host the six-hour event on Sunday, November 8.
Members of the Just Dance Company will be on hand to give lessons in dance styles such as ballet, tap, disco and street dancing.
Organiser Roz Edwards, secretary of the playgroup, said: “This is going to be a fun-filled day for all.
“You don’t need to be a contender for Strictly Come Dancing, all we want is for everyone to have an enjoyable day.
“There is no age limit or criteria to meet – all you need to do is fill up a sponsor form, come along and have lots of fun.”
Each dance session will last 20 minutes and those taking part will be taught steps which will be built up into a routine.
The nursery, which has been open for 25 years, needed urgent repairs to remain open.
It was saved by a community DIY SOS-style rescue bid in August, which meant it could reopen in September.
But the repairs are only a temporary measure and the nursery must raise £200,000 for a new building.
The playgroup is also waiting to hear if a grant application to Oxfordshire County Council has been successful.
The dance-athon takes place from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch at 12.30pm.
Dancers should bring a packed lunch.
Afterwards there will be a balloon race with the chance to win a term of free dance lessons with the Just Dance Company.
