Sir – The answer to Mrs Bale (Letters, October 1) is ‘yes’. The same rules for refuse collection will apply at Christmas as the rest of the year.
It’s odd, isn’t it, that at the festive season we buy lots of stuff we don’t want and then throw it away? But lots of Xmas things can be recycled. Wrapping-paper goes in the blue box, glass bottles in the green box and trees can be taken to our local park to be cut into wood chips. What is different is that our excellent city council staff will be working extra days to collect our rubbish when the rest of us are putting our feet up.
Oxford people already throw away less rubbish than anywhere else in the South East region. So let’s make this Yuletide as rubbish free as we can.
