OXFORD’S Sobell House Hospice got some celebrity support for its fundraising efforts today.
TV satirist Rory Bremner and Oxford United manager Chris Wilder and some of his players called in as part of the Headington hospice’s open week.
Mr Bremner arrived to make a surprise appearance on radio stations Jack FM and 107.9FM, which are running a Giving for Living appeal for the hospice.
Hospice fundraiser Kevin Game said: “Seeing Rory come through the door was fantastic. The guys had kept it a secret from us all and it was a great way to end a very exciting day.”
Mr Bremner said: “My father spent his last few days in a hospice, a very great friend of mine lost his wife this week and she stayed in a hospice, and my best friend has lung cancer.
“But hospices are the most wonderful places. I have been here all of two minutes and you can see the friendliness and the warmth all around.”
U’s boss Chris Wilder is doing his bit for the hospice by donating for auction the bottle of Champagne he will receive after being named as Blue Square Premier Manager of the Month for September.
To donate to the Jack FM Giving for Living appeal call 01865 318700 or see the radio station's website.
