A SACKFUL of Santas were put through their paces in Oxford’s Cornmarket Street today as they signed up competitors for this year’s Father Christmas fun run.
More than a dozen Santas enlisted joggers in the third annual Helen and Douglas House Santas on the Run event.
Last year, about 1,000 people took part in the two-mile city centre jog, raising more than £38,000 for the East Oxford hospice for children and young people.
This year, organisers have added a second fun run in Cornbury Park, Charlbury, to cope with demand.
Events manager Fiona Evans said: “We had an amazing response to last year’s run – it really was a fabulous sight to see hundreds of Santas of all ages, running for charity and having so much fun. I would encourage anyone wanting to join in to book now, while places are still available.”
The runs take place at Cornbury on Sunday, December 6, and in Oxford a week later. Entry is £12 for adults and £8 for children.
