CHURCHGOERS in Abingdon who volunteered for a number of community projects have been praised for their efforts.
More than 100 men from Christ Church, in Northcourt Road, and other churches in the town, last month gave up their spare time to help needy families and organisations.
The Christ Church Man 2 Man group, which organised the event, said the initiative proved such a success that they were planning to do the same thing again at a date to be fixed.
Tracy Spooner, acting manager of the Abingdon Bridge project, which helps young people aged 13 to 25 at risk from drugs or alcohol, thanked volunteers who spent hours decorating the centre in Bridge Street.
Volunteers included Charles Hippsley, David Corps and Roland Knight while another team, including Martin Leaver, and his son Tom, 13, painted the scout hut at Abingdon Baptist Church.
Ms Spooner said: “The help these men have given has been invaluable.”
