Goring Robins welcomed AFC Newbury to there ground for this OMBL League Cup Match. Both teams started well with early chances at both ends, But both keepers where in good form and the score stayed 0.0. Half way into the game Newbury scored when there striker closed down the ball being kicked from the keepers hands, it bounced back off the striker towards goal and Newbury followed the ball up and put it in the open Goring net. The score stayed the same till half time.
Second half both teams seamed to start well but soon the B league team got control of the game and Goring where on the back foot, 5 minutes later Newbury scored to make it 2.0. Goring's heads dropped at this stage and Newbury just took over winning every challenge and soon Goring where 3.0 down. Even though the Goring team looked beaten Tom King in goal kept making save after save. But the Newbury attack was to good for the Goring defence and soon Newbury scored 2 more goals. The final score was Goring 0 Newbury 5. I wish Newbury all the best in the second round.
Gorings man of the match went to Tom King in goals who battled all the time.
