William, 65, was caught pondering at a harvest festival supper held at the Plough Inn, in Clifton Hampden, in October 1958.
In 1981, two pairs of hands were needed to carry a hefty basket of fruit and vegetables.
Victoria Mott and Zeke Moss were happy to oblige at John Hampden Primary School, in Thame.
The 400 children at the school came laden with produce, which was divided between Woodeaton Special School, Meadowcroft old people’s home and elderly people living in The Croft flats.
