Sir – Councillor Tanner’s reply (Letters, September 24) to my letter only told me what I mostly know, and did not answer my question.
I’d like to make it clear to Mr Tanner that I am a strong supporter of recycling, doing my best to adhere to the rules laid down by this council.
I am one of his ‘overwhelming majority of residents’ who, after recycling and composting as much as I can, put any left over-waste in to a black bag and in to my green wheelie bin. However, my question was, and still is, this. During a holiday period, for example Christmas and New Year, when extra entertaining and visiting families ensure that one has plenty of extra non-recyclable rubbish, will the council, as stated in the leaflet, and verbally endorsed via telephone, still refuse to take the extra bag/bags unable to fit in to the wheelie bin? Yes or no?
Mrs Jane Bale, Headington
