Sir – Paul Cullen (Report, September 24) says ‘North Oxford has no bus connection with the station’. At present, getting to the station from North Oxford is comparatively easy — a walk from the Martyrs’ Memorial to the relevant bus in George Street to the station. However, North Oxford now has no direct link with Headington and what was a relatively easy journey to Cowley and Iffley, ie a bus to Queen Street, or Queen’s Lane, and a change to an adjacent bus, is now banned to us.

We are decanted by Martyrs’ Memorial, and expected to walk down Magdalen Street East, part of Broad Street and then to be jostled by clusters of mainly foreign students wandering aimlessly in Cornmarket to a second bus somewhere in St Aldate’s, or to walk to Queen’s Lane, or to Bonnn Square, Castle Street, or New Road.

Now it is almost impossible for many people in North Oxford to get through Oxford, or even to the city centre.
