Police in Barton, Oxford, are encouraging people to tell them about people committing crime and anti-social behaviour on the estate.
The team will be hand-delivering a letter to every resident tomorrow explaining how they can contact the team with information and contribute to keeping their neighbourhood a safe place.
Insp Jim Holmes, who is behind the initiative, said: “The Barton neighbourhood team is the first one in Thames Valley Police to try out this new way of gathering intelligence from the community.
“We want to work together with our partners and the public on further reducing levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in Barton.
"It is the aim of both my team and the partnership to tackle crime and disorder through education, intervention and focused enforcement action.
"To enable us to act on the public’s behalf and tackle these issues we need them to tell us what is happening.
“The community’s information, no matter how big or small, will be treated confidentially. We always seek to protect the identity of those who provide us with information wherever possible and will not disclose the identity of the source.”
The neighbourhood team will be holding a street briefing at Underhill Circus Shops at 1pm tomorrow to speak to the community, and the police office will be open tomorrow afternoon for residents to come and speak to the team. The team’s Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) will be delivering the letters.
