Children in Oxford are among the first in the country to benefit from a swine flu vaccine trial, which started today.
Researchers hope to test two different drugs on 1,000 children aged between six months and 12 years in the next fortnight in five test venues - Oxford, Bristol, Southampton, Exeter and London.
Pregnant Nicolette Wolf brought her 17-month-old son Reuben to be immunised at the John Radcliffe Hospital this morning.
She said: “It’s very important for him to get vaccinated.
“I am pregnant and the least chance of me getting swine flu the better.”
The University of Oxford, which is carrying out the trial, is recruiting children to take part.
Appointments are available on Saturday and Sunday.
