A man in Wantage has been arrested after port officials on the Kent coast seized about £2m worth of what is suspected to be amphetamine sulphate.

Officers from the UK Border Agency stopped a Hungarian-registered tractor unit and trailer after it arrived in Ramsgate on a ferry from Ostend on Saturday.

Officers discovered 440lb of the drug and two Hungarian men were arrested and freed on bail for six months, pending further enquiries.

HM Revenue and Customs later arrested a third man at a house in Wantage and he was released on bail until January.
