A FAMILY escaped uninjured from a fire which wrecked their first-floor flat in Berinsfield.
Oxford Mail reader Nick Baldwin, who took the photograph, went into the house in Glyme Drive with neighbour John Cornelius on Friday to make sure the woman and three children inside got out safely.
Fire crews praised the neighbours who spotted the flames and called 999 at about 5pm.
Firefighters prevented the blaze spreading to neighbouring houses, although smoke got inside the roof space.
Station manager Simon Belcher, of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “If it hadn’t been for those people making a quick call to the fire service, the fire may have been much worse than it was.”
Everyone was out of the house before the fire crews arrived. No-one was injured in the incident.
