Abingdon Youth winning run continues!!
Abingdon started the better and were one up after a couple of minutes after a cross from James Pearce-Shaw had flashed across the box for Luke Meehan to score at the back post. Abingdon then went 2 up when James Pearce-Shaw raced onto a through ball and beat the Henley keeper with a crisp shot.
Abingdon's centre midfield duo of Dustin Addison and George Woodley then stated to dictate the pace of the game.
James Pearce-Shaw got his second after a pass from Luke Meehan. Max Shepherd then got his first goal after he beat the off side trap and hit a good shot low past the keeper. Abingdon then had to make a change as one of one of their defenders got injured. Abingdon then went 5 up when Mathew Pearson hit a crisp shot over the advancing keeper. Half time Abingdon 5-0 Henley.
The second half was like the first as Abingdon went 6 up with Max Shepherd getting his second and Mathew Pearson getting his second to make it 7 nil. Henley then started to play some good football and had a succession of corners that troubled the Abingdon defence.
With the hot weather both teams enjoyed breaks of play to drink some fluids. Abingdon then stepped up a gear and hit the bar for the second time of the game, James Pearce-Shaw then got his hatrick with a shot from inside the box and then Max Shepherd got his third and his third hatrick of the season when he rounded the keeper to score from a tight angle. Final score Abingdon 9-0 Henley.
Well done to both teams for an enjoyable game.
