A 30-year-old man violently punched a shopper in the throat sending her flying through the air and crashing to the ground.
Mark Weinberg, of Long Ford Close, in Oxford, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm at Oxford Crown Court on Friday.
CCTV footage played to the court showed Weinberg punching a 60-year-old woman in Penny Farthing Place in June this year in an unprovoked attack.
Recorder Angela Morris remanded Weinberg in the care of mental health workers in a medium secure unit at Littlemore Hospital ahead of sentencing on December 17.
