Fire crews praised quick-thinking neighbours after a blaze in a house in Berinsfield.

About 20 firefighters tackled a blaze in the first floor of a terraced house in Glyme Drive, Berinsfield, at about 5pm yesterday.

The crews successfully prevented the flames spreading to neighbouring houses.

Station manager Simon Belcher, of Oxfordshire fire and rescue, thanked neighbours for the two quick emergency calls received.

He said: “If it hadn’t been for those people making a quick call to the fire service the fire may have been much worse than it was.”

An adult and three children escaped the house before crews arrived and without injury.
