A 50-YEAR-OLD steward fiddled the accounts at his Conservative Club to cover his thefts, a court heard.
Peter Baskerville admitted six counts of false accounting at Oxford Crown Court today.
The court heard Baskerville, of Ash Gate, Abingdon, falsified accounts at the bar at Abingdon Conservative Club, between April 2006 and January 2009.
The Crown Prosecution Service has launched proceedings to make Baskerville pay back the missing money, but the total amount has not yet been decided.
David Bright, defending, said money was clearly missing from the accounts but Baskerville was not the only individual culpable. He said: “There is more in this case than meets the eye.”
Baskerville was bailed until sentencing on November 6.
