THREE girls from Milham Ford School are seen with a 170lb cake, which marked International Cooperation Year in 1965. Julia Sheldon, Stephanie Taylor and Linda Harding were among 3,000 people at a ceremony in London. The aim was to encourage friendship among young people of all nations. A piece of cake was sent to each of the 115 countries’ delegations at the United Nations.
A smaller cake was baked to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Oxford Women’s League of Health and Beauty in 1978. In the second picture, teachers Pat Rogers and Pam Scott-Watson are preparing to wield the knife.
The third picture was taken at Cowley Workers’ Social Club in 1962 when vice-president Mr ID Campbell, extreme right, received a watch and a cheque to mark his retirement. Others in the picture are, from left, president Mr WC Davies, secretary Mr E Perriman and new vice-president Bryn Beynon.
