ON BEHALF of Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Charitable Funds, I would like to thank the Oxford Mail and its readers for your continuing support. In the last financial year £7.4million was raised and – given the difficult global economy – we are especially grateful for such amazing support. This generosity has helped fund better patient facilities and medical equipment across Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, including patient gardens that would otherwise have been empty spaces, three computer integrated theatres allowing more keyhole surgery, meaning a shorter recovery time, and a new car to assist with elderly patient transport. We wholeheartedly welcome the community’s involvement across the South and I write to also make people aware of a forthcoming event that is an easy way for anyone to get involved. Last year 450 people took part in the inaugural ‘Its Not Just A Walk In The Park’ raising over £30,000 for the Oxford Cancer and Haematology Centre. This year the event returns on Sunday, October 18 and will also be raising money for the Oxford Heart Centre. These centres treat numerous patients from across the region. The three mile route is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, so if readers would like to know more about taking part would they please call Cynthia on 01865 743444 or visit www.orhcharitablefunds.nhs.uk/events Thank you again for your continued support.
