A THERAPY day on an Oxford estate which offered beauty treatments for £1 has been hailed the best ever after attracting more than 300 people — including plenty of men.
The event on Saturday at the Barton Neighbourhood Centre, now in its sixth year, was funded by the city council and Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust.
Treatments on offer included full-body massage, reflexology, facials, eyebrow shaping and waxing.
Organiser Sue Holden said: “It was the best ever. We had so many people through the door — we estimate in excess of 300 – which is absolutely astounding.
“We also had lots of evaluation forms, which gives us ideas for future events.”
She added: “This year the men were really out in force, which is what we want, and I think they enjoyed it every bit as much as the women.
“By about 1pm we had to stop selling tickets for therapy treatments, which tells us we need more therapists next year, which in turn will mean getting more funding.
“People told us they’d like to see eyebrow threading and pedicures so we’ll be looking at that for next year.”
