AN AMATEUR photographer from Witney beat competition from 9,000 entries to win a top prize.
Martyn Ferry, of Burford Road, is one of three overall winners of this year’s Currys’ Great British Summer national photography competition.
Mr Ferry won a £5,000 holiday and Panasonic camera equipment.
He said: “I found this rather relaxed looking bovine near one of the tors in Dartmouth National Park. I liked the way she was posed on the grass, surveying all around her with a certain aloofness.
“She didn’t take that kindly to me approaching her, but allowed me to reel off a few shoots before she got up and left me to it.”
Judges selected 40 finalists, whose images were on display at the Music Room Gallery, in London, for a week earlier this month.
Mr Ferry was presented with his prize earlier this month by guest judge, supermodel and photography enthusiast, Jodie Kidd.
