Wantage settled well and had the upper hand in the early stages but knew that Cumnor are always a goal threat given the opportunity. Eventually the visitors were rewarded for their efforts with an excellent set piece goal, Jack Alexander delivering the ball into the heart of the six yard area for Anthony Martin to head into the net.
Shortly afterwards Wantage had the chance to extend their league but Anthony's clipped touch past the Cumnor keeper was cleared away for a corner. Cumnor then came back into the game and drew level with a shot from the left edge of the penalty area before then scoring two further goals in quick succession to go 3-1 ahead.
Wantage probably felt a little hard done by having played so well but got back into the game just on the stoke of halftime when Jack Alexander's powerful free kick was parried by the keeper and Anthony followed up to score his second of the game.
The second half was a much tighter affair, still very competitive but with both teams cancelling each other out and so no further goals came, meaning the home side came away with the win and three points.
For Wantage it was a far better performance from all the boys, all of whom played well as individuals and also as a team
