A road is closed and firefighters remain at the scene following a large fire in south Oxfordshire last night.
Crews were called to Oakley Wood Farm on the A4130 by Crowmarsh Gifford, near Wallingford, at 10.45pm to a report of a workshop on fire.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “On arrival, crews were confronted with a very well-developed fire involving three single-storey wooden workshops and a car-repair workshop.”
Incident commander Bob Swanton said: “Fire crews fought throughout the night to prevent the fire spreading further to surrounding buildings and to cool cylinders, one of which is believed to contain acetylene.
“Because of the danger of explosions from the heated cylinders it was necessary to establish a safety cordon around the site which necessitated closure of the A4130.”
The fire service said this morning the road closure and cylinder-cooling operations are likely to continue for another 24 hours.
A total of six fire engines, a control unit, water carrier and hose layer attended in the initial incident.
