FOUR cars were involved in a collision on the A34 near Oxford yesterday causing delays for drivers in the rush-hour.
The accident happened on the southbound carriageway close to the Peartree interchange at 8.35am and blocked both carriageways.
Staff from South Central Ambulance Service were called to the crash, but David Paull, Thames Valley Police spokesman, said the drivers escaped without serious injuries.
He said: “The accident involved a black BMW, a silver Volkswagen, a grey Ford and a white Vauxhall.
“Fortunately, this was a damage-only accident and none of the drivers were seriously injured.
“There were delays immediately after the accident while officers dealt with the aftermath of the crash.”
Traffic trying to avoid the A34 north of Oxford are no longer able to use Wytham and Wolvercote villages as a rat-run after Godstow bridge was hit by a car at the weekend.
It is expected the road will be closed for four weeks while the bridge is being repaired.
