EXPERIENCED bikers are to advise novice riders on the importance of road safety at a well-known roadside meeting point.
The event, which will run from noon until 4pm on Saturday at the H Cafe on the A4074 in Berinsfield, has been organised by the 340-strong H Riders Club to promote responsible riding.
Group leader Steve Abbott-Harding, 58, from Berinsfield – pictured, front, with county councillors Lorraine Lindsay-Gale and Rodney Rose, Pc Ed Crofts and club members – said: “We’ve had eight fatalities recently in Oxfordshire. We especially want to warn youngsters about the danger of passing your test, then wrapping your bike round a tree.”
The event will be attended by the police, fire service and county council, and feature demonstrations from advanced riders and Abbey Motorcycle Instructors, of Culham.
Mr Abbott-Harding, who said he never rode his bike faster than 60mph, added: “There’s a time and a place for fast bikes, usually on an airfield.”
