Bartholomew School is a mixed comprehensive founded in 1958, which offers an exciting and stimulating educational experience for the young people of the area.

The school is justly proud of its success, which depends on enthusiastic and committed staff, well-motivated students, and partnership with parents and supportive governors.

The school has an excellent academic record, with examination results that are consistently well above national averages at all levels.

It is also a delight to see our students not only gaining success in their studies, but also leaving the school as mature and confident young adults.

We expect high standards from our students and we stress the values of honesty, integrity and respect for others.

Parents are encouraged to become fully involved in the education of their sons and daughters. In addition to the formal parents’ evenings, there are occasions when teachers, parents and students can come together informally.

We hold regular concerts, drama productions and sporting events. Links with parents and school are strengthened through informative guidance evenings, regular newsletters and individual reports. All parents are welcomed as members of the Bartholomew School Association.

As Bartholomew is a Specialist Technology College, students are able to benefit from participating in a range of exciting initiatives within each of the technology subjects: design and technology, mathematics and science.

In addition, the school endeavours to use the benefits of our technology status to enhance and raise standards within every curriculum area.

Bartholomew School aims to operate as a centre of technological excellence within the community, sharing best practice within our local partnership and increasing participation in technology subjects.

We have been recently designated as a ‘High Performance Specialist School’ for our value added score. We are also currently the highest performing state maintained school at Key Stage 4 for core performance (5A*- C, including maths and English).
