A woman was assaulted in Witney as she walked to work today.
At about 5.30am the woman was near to the entrance to Sainsbury’s when a man grabbed hold of her.
The woman managed to kick the man before running into the store and contacting the police.
Det Con Graham Lea said: “It seems that this man could have been hiding in the bushes when the woman walked past.
“He was wearing black clothing, with a grubby face and smelt of stale alcohol.
“We believe he grabbed the woman in an attempt to steal her handbag before leaving in the direction of Farm Mill Lane.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Lea via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
