Each year Oxford Brookes awards honorary degrees recognising the outstanding contribution individuals have made the worlds of science, arts, academia, politics, industry, medicine, entertainment and other fields.
Among the recipients in 2009 is former Chancellor and highly regarded journalist Jon Snow.
As Chancellor for sevon years (2001 - 2008), Jon has been an outstanding ambassador for the university and inspired staff and students alike. He has played a huge part in many of the most important moments in Brookes' recent developments. Reflecting on his experiences, Jon said he "laughed a lot, learnt a lot and loved every minute."
Jon has been chief presenter of Channel 4 news since 1989, has won Royal Television Awards for reporting from Eritrea, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and El Salvador and in 2006 was named its journalist of the year.
Famous for his fabulous ties, Jon Snow has brought a unique blend of colour to news and broadcasting.
