Goalscorers – Jack Barrett (2), Kieron Conway (25) If Newbury though that last week’s outing to Wantage was going to set the scene for the rest of their season, they were sadly mistaken.
Didcot put up a spirited performance that equalled the abilities of the away team and Newbury found themselves under considerable pressure during the entire match.
Jack Barrett put Newbury ahead in the second minute of the game but Didcot fought back and beat the Newbury defence 8 minutes later and it wasn’t until the 25th minute that Newbury took the lead again with a long range shot from Kieron Conway’s left foot.
The second half was a true battle of strength and only remained goalless due to the immense defensive skills of Newbury’s ever reliable centre half, Scott Shaw, when he held off the Didcot strike force in the dying minutes of the game.
1-2 the final score.
