PUPILS at St Barnabus School in Jericho, Oxford, were tickled pink after their art department received £1,000.
James Salter, who has run Cowboymod hairdressers in Walton Street for 14 years, was left with the surplus money after shops and businesses clubbed together to pay for a mural at the corner of Little Clarendon Street. He decided youngsters at the community school could make the best use of the cash, which will go towards their art projects next year. Mr Salter, 45, said: “The mural was possible because of the generosity of so many people around Jericho, and it has really brightened up the area. “Now these pupils can benefit from the money left over.” He added: “The headteacher was completely unaware of the money until I phoned her, so it was a lovely surprise.
