FORMER Oxford United star Joey Beauchamp has been given a two-year driving ban after admitting drink-driving.
Beauchamp, 38, of Titup Hall Drive, Wood Farm, was sentenced at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday after admitting driving while more than three times over the alcohol limit.
As well as being disqualified from driving for two years, he received a six-month community order requiring him to report to the probation service, and was ordered to pay £40 in costs.
The charge related to an incident in Scott Road, Cutteslowe, on Monday, August 10, when Beauchamp was stopped by police and failed a breath test. It showed that Beauchamp had 105 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Beauchamp’s career ended after a toe injury. Oxford Magistrates’ Court was told last month that his life had “gone downhill” since he left football.
Beauchamp scored 77 goals for Oxford.
