VETERANS and well-wishers once again lined Headley Way, the route to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, as two more bodies of fallen soldiers from Afghanistan were taken there for post mortems.
Private Gavin Elliott, 19, of The 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment, and Lance Corporal Richard James Brandon, 24, of the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, were killed in separate incidents last week.
Pt Elliott, from Woodsetts, near Worksop, Nottinghamshire, died on September 3 after being shot while on a foot patrol in Babaji district in Helmand Province.
L Cpl Brandon, from Kidderminster, in Worcestershire, was killed in the south of Gereshk in Helmand Province on September 2 when the vehicle he was travelling in hit a roadside bomb.
The men were repatriated at RAF Lyneham, in Wiltshire, shortly after 11am yesterday.
As has become traditional, the cortege passed through the town of Wootton Bassett, the streets of which were also lined by veterans and well-wishers, before heading to the John Radcliffe.
