I was so sorry to read your article about the young man, Sam who had to abandon his charity trek across Canada in aid of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a disease his grandmother has (Oxford Mail, September 8).
I have followed all the articles in the Mail, as I was so impressed with what he was doing.
He sounds like a very nice young man whose family must be very proud. And I really feel that someone in the Canadian government could have helped him.
I have a twin brother, Michael, who lives in Canada, who at this moment is travelling across Canada, from Vancouver to Newfoundland, on a 600cc motorbike.
It has always been one of his dreams and he is now in his mid 70s.
I told him all about Sam weeks back and he said he would keep an eye out for him and buy him a pint – even though it would have been like looking for a needle in a haystack.
I am sure there are many people in Oxford who feel like me, and would like to congratulate Sam on what he has done.
Please let us all know when he intends to walk his remaining distance in the UK, we must support him.
Well done Sam.
