ACTORS dressed as white rabbits have been bouncing around Oxford to remind people to enjoy Alice’s Day on Saturday.
Members of the Oxford Playhouse Young Company popped up in Cornmarket Street and outside the Ashmolean Museum in Beaumont Street to publicise the event.
They will be appearing in Bonn Square at regular intervals and at other surprise locations throughout the city.
About 6,000 people took part in the first Alice’s Day celebrating the Alice in Wonderland stories of Lewis Carroll, in real life Christ Church maths don Charles Dodgson, in 2007.
And organisers The Story Museum – the Oxford charity aiming to set up a museum devoted to children’s literature – are hoping even more will enjoy tomorrow’s festivities.
More than 20 organisations in Oxford have combined to back Alice’s Day, including Borders bookshop and the Botanic Garden.
Alice’s Day organiser Esther Browning said: “Alice’s Day is a magical moment in Oxford’s calendar for both local people and tourists.”
