A young cyclist involved in a collision with a van last night In Abingdon was a pupil at Larkmead School, it has been revealed.
The year seven pupil, an 11-year-old girl, was cycling home when she was involved in a collision with a white Iveco van shortly after 4.30pm.
She remains in a critical but stable condition in Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital. following a collision in the town last night.
The accident happened near the bridge in Copenhagen Drive and comes just nine months after fellow pupil, 17-year-old Sarah Waterhouse, was killed following a collision with a coach in nearby Colwell Drive.
Police said the girl suffered serious head injuries.
Larkmead School headteacher Chris Harris said: “The situation we have at the moment is that one of our students is very seriously ill.
“We have just informed all of our staff and informed all of our students about what has happened.”
