ARTIST Sylvia Atkinson has been working with children to create seven murals to decorate their school.
The murals were designed to reflect pupils’ daily lives at Brookside School, Bucknell Road, and at home in Bicester. Themes included school children, sheep, handbags and shoes. Ms Atkinson spent a week at the school helping children work on the murals, which will go on display in the school’s new foundation stage unit and main building.
Teacher Phoebe Davies said: “Sylvia is a prominent artist and has worked in several local schools. As part of an art week, the children had the opportunity to try out lots of different styles and types of painting.”
The project was funded with a grant from Kids@art, an Oxfordshire Arts Weeks educational charity.
