COTSWOLD country crafts came alive in Priory Lane in 1974 when the town staged its first rural street fair. Craftsmen set up stalls and gave demonstrations in wood lathing, pottery, spinning and lacemaking. Onlookers are seen inspecting some of the goods on sale.
Crafts were not all that was on offer. The next picture shows another feature – the trampoline – which was open to all ages.
A giant yellow boot was installed at Nigel Johnson’s garden centre in Shilton Road in 1983. The boot and other attractions in the playground proved popular with children, while their parents bought plants and gardening equipment.
