The therapy garden at Oxford’s Viking House has been officially opened by BBC Blue Peter presenter Chris Collins.
Viking House in Saxon Way, Headington – a drop-in centre for disabled children – is managed by children’s charity Barnardo’s, which helped raise money for the project.
On Saturday, a garden party was held to celebrate the opening where regional directors, staff, residents, children and their families were all present to commemorate the event.
The garden has been open for a couple of weeks and has proved a big hit with the children.
Mr Collins was on hand to dispense some gardening expertise.
Staff, children and their families helped to shape the garden’s design and Sue Morris, managing director at Viking House, said the garden was the culmination of a “real community effort”.
She said: “The garden allows us to have a useable outdoor space for the children who come and visit here.
“The children have diverse needs so we wanted something for everyone.”
