The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon will open the glorious parkland at Highclere Castle for the National Horse Trials over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Added to the PreNovice and Intermediate cross country courses, this year there will be a new advanced course for the most experienced horses and riders, and, as always, there will be many attractions besides the two days of dressage, show jumping and cross country.
Minature ponies will be showing themselves off together with their foals — if all goes according to plan.
Dogs of any shape or size can enter the fun dog shows, which go on throughout the Sunday and Monday.
Dog trainer Howard Kirby will be giving master classes and demonstrations and some very sound advice about how to deal with your problem dog; the Stallions of Substance will be back by popular demand with their amazing and electrifying display of equine obedience; terriers will be racing against all-comers (large or small) and if shopping is your thing then come and visit the trade stands.
So much to choose from and only two days in which to choose.
Bring the whole family who'll also enjoy the many catering facilities and the public bar.
You can also look around the magnificent interior of Highclere Castle and take a walk around the beautiful landscaped grounds.
Tickets are £10 for adults, children go free, and there is free parking.
Main gates are open from 8.30am.
