Paul and Adele Dixon are no strangers to hard work, as the house they built a few years ago is on the market and they are already thinking about their next project. Their family home, Lawrence House in Freeland, near Witney, is a stylish, superbly equipped property – a showcase for Mrs Dixon’s natural talent for interior design and her husband’s expertise in project management. This seven-bedroomed home has nearly 4,500 sq ft of living space and everything, even down to the landscaped gardens, has been put together with meticulous attention to detail. Mrs Dixon said: “We needed a substantial house, and although we thought we may not stay there too long, we built it to be just how we wanted it, with cool, modern interiors and luxurious fittings.” The contemporary finish includes a high-gloss Miele kitchen/breakfast room with integrated appliances and granite worktops. A spectacular oak staircase is a centrepiece of the house and there are oak floors and woodwork throughout the property. The house is arranged over three floors, with several reception rooms on the ground floor, and a large master suite, including dressing area, shower and bath, on the first floor. Two of the guest bedrooms have en-suite showers and there is a family bathroom on the first and second floors. There is an integral double garage and the gardens, which feature a circular water fountain, were professionally landscaped and are now maturing well. Lawrence House is not the first home the Dixons have built, so they are completely at home with the challenges of a large project. Mrs Dixon said: “The first house we built was in Standlake, before we moved here, and we love the whole process as it gives us a great sense of satisfaction. “We are already busy planning our next house and we expect building to be under way in the summer.” She added: “We will miss Freeland, though, especially as I grew up in nearby Long Hanborough and it is a lovely village with a real community feel.” Lawrence House in Freeland is on the market at a guide price £945,000.
