I FEEL that before Thames Water imposes a water restriction on non-payers, they should sort out their customer services and administration first.
My ex-husband walked out on me in June 2007. The water bill was in his name therefore I could not pay and he refused to contact them to advise that he no longer lived at my address It took me over a year to get the name changed so I could arrange payments from my bank account, which subsequently left me in debt with them.
Yes, I should have put some money away, but being a single parent it’s hard.
I am a single mum trying to pay off as much as I can spare off my debt to them every four weeks out of my child benefit payments.
If they cannot sort out their billing in the first place how do they expect people to pay back all the money owed in one go?
Also there is only my son and I, and we have to pay the standard bill – Thames Water refuses to install a water meter due to the fact I live in an old RAF flat.
There’s only two of us in the flat and we don’t have a garden, therefore I feel I am paying more money for my water than other people on average.
