CHILDREN from St Nicholas Primary School in Old Marston, Oxford, got a taste of life in the 19th century by re-enacting the trial of four child Victorian prisoners.
The youngsters wore props relating to their characters and listened to witnesses and defendants before the judge – in real life teacher Matt Hutchinson – decided their fate.
The event was held in the Town Hall in St Aldate’s and organised by the Museum of Oxford.
Teacher Matt passed sentence on four of his pupils.
He said: “It was a fantastic learning experience for all the children and the staff at the Town Hall were wonderful.
“One of the children was accused of stealing a gold watch and was jailed for 12 months, one obtained goods by lying and was sent to Australia.”
