The South Oxfordshire Community Safety Partnership (CSP) will hold its first annual volunteer awards event tomorrow.
The Annual CSP Volunteer Awards will recognise volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to community safety and this year honours a civilian who tackled a robber at a cashpoint among many others.
The CSP aims to make south Oxfordshire an even safer place to live and work, an aim which could not be met half as well without the men, women and young people who volunteer their time and energy toward safeguarding their communities.
South Oxfordshire District Council will host the event with the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, Richard Dick, presenting 15 awards.
Amanda Pearson, Superintendent South Oxfordshire Police area, said: “These residents give their time selflessly and their efforts help make the partnership the success that it is. We’re proud to have so many volunteers to acknowledge and we’re sure their communities are proud of them too.”
Jane Murphy, cabinet member for community safety, said: “This awards ceremony is an excellent opportunity to show our appreciation for those who make an exceptional effort to keep our communities safe. I’m delighted South Oxfordshire District Council will be hosting this event and I look forward to many more to come.”
